To ensure accurate and timely coding of medical practice visits.
Contribute to continuous quality improvement
Demonstrate tact and understanding in dealings with staff members, physicians, and the public
Oversees the initiation of activities to foster information privacy awareness within the organization
Ensure the practice’s objectives are achieved in an effective, timely, and efficient manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Post medical charges into medical billing software to meet daily and monthly goals
Claims management and evaluation of payments, denials, and appeals
Coordinate with clinics to ensure all outstanding bills are collected
Data entry of patient demographics and input charges accordingly
Ability to appropriately assign modifiers
Medical reimbursements
Initiate refunds for patients
Various billing and collections functions to ensure accurate and timely claim processing
Confirm patient benefits and insurance
Follow-up on late or missed payment notices
General knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT codes

Office and medical/surgical business skills obtained through applicable job experience and/or appropriate education;

Equipment Operated:
Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Work Environment:
Position is in a well-lighted office environment. Occasional evening and weekend work.
Mental/Physical Requirements: Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
Education: Two years college preferably with coursework in health care billing and coding.
Experience: Minimum two years of billing and coding experience
Licensure: Certified Professional Coder (CPC required)
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
